The Origin of Love

Aristophanes in Plato’s Symposium suggests that human form was not always as it is today. There was a time where humans were born with their partners as a whole. Spherical in shape, with four arms, four legs and two faces on either side of a single head.

There were three sexes back then; the male-male, female-female, and male-female. Referred to as the children of the Sun, Earth, and Moon. Such was their arrogance, they dared to challenge the Gods. So Zeus, in his anger, hailed up a storm and with his lighting, ripped through the flesh of the children of the Sun, Moon and Earth; splitting them into two, each becoming a distinct entity. Since then, human beings have been running around in panic, trying to shove themselves back together, searching for their lost counterparts in a desire to be whole again.

Imagine finding a dragon egg one day, and it hatches in your house and thinks you’re its mom. Then the next morning you wake up and find this mini dragon has gathered all the lose change and shiny objects in your house in a pile, and is gnawing on a nickel. And then when you take it out for walks, it picks up every coin it sees cause its a hoarder. And your house is eventually full of coins. And you are rich. And have a dragon.
